The BC curriculum holds the information that should be covered in every topic and in every grade. The BC curriculum focuses on three core competencies, communication, thinking, and personal and social. These core competencies should be the building stone when making lessons for students. The curriculum also contains big ideas, curricular competencies, and content. These are the things that teacher directly or indirectly teaches throughout the school year. Depending on the subject the curriculum also gives ideas for some specific lessons but generally, the curriculum is vague so that teachers have some freedom in what they teach their students.
